UN-HABITAT on Thursday unveiled two new initiatives to help young people in the poorer neighbourhoods of cities in the developing world get a better start in life and give the Millennium Development Goals for global poverty reduction a major boost.

UN-HABITAT will start a new development project with the United Nations Development Programme and the Department for International Development (DfID) of the United Kingdom to help improve the living conditions of three million people living in abject poverty in Bangladeshi towns and cities.
